So Random! Vs All That

A couple of years ago, when Sonny with a Chance was announced, some people noticed that there was a sketch show involved, and All That was also a sketch show. Some people also noticed that Brian Robbins, who was involved with All That, was on board for Sonny with a Chance. A couple of months ago, when Demi Lovato announced that she wouldn’t be on season 3 of Sonny with a Chance, Disney announced that they would make Sonny with a Chance become the show-within-a-show So Random!, instead of focusing on the other characters. This lead to more comparisons to All That. And now, with The ‘90s are all that, people can’t help but compare these two shows.

Although everyone agrees that All That is better, there aren’t many clear reasons why. One of these might just be that it was better because it’s older. Here are my thoughts on why All That was better.

The cast members were younger. According to Wikipedia, only one member, Lori Beth Denberg, was eighteen at the start of the show. And she was the oldest. However, in So Random! four of the five cast members are over eighteen. I think they’re all at least 20, too. While age shouldn’t affect quality, it sort of feels like the adult cast members want to move on from a Disney kidcom.
All That isn’t the result of a star leaving their vehicle. So Random! would probably be better if it wasn’t just Disney’s chance at keeping the SwaC franchise alive. Like, if the Disney powers that be would just have So Random! from the start, it would probably be (or at least feel) more natural.
Disney’s priority isn’t comedy. Okay, neither is Nickeldoden’s probably, but Disney cares more for making the next big thing (Miley Cyrus/ High School Musical Cast, anyone?). They also care more for making money.
All That had more cast members. I believe in season 1 they had 7, while So Random! has 5. Most of the time in So Random! they need to use people outside of the five. If they added more cast members, that would be nice.
The All That cast members kept their names. I’m not even kidding. In So Random!, the actors still go by their characters’ names (i.e., Sterling is called Chad whenever they’re no sketch, Doug is called Grady, etc.).

So Random! doesn’t suck as much as everyone says it does (Though I have a high tolerance of kidcoms, as long as it’s not Shake it Up! or Victorious). However, they have big shoes to fill. Especially considering there’s one less cast member.

Let’s Get Physical!

Now that I have your attention thanks to that bad reference, it’s time for me to post about something I haven’t posted about in such a long time: Newsea hairs! After I learned how to install .package files, I stopped criticizing every hair Newsea made because I ~~realized I shouldn’t be talking unless I can make custom content~~ found new sites for hair. And it’s pretty hard to come up with comments for each hairstyle when some look so alike (Lullaby and Jenifer, anyone?).

But this hair’s different. It’s so similar to other hairstyles, it’s worth posting about.

This hairstyle’s pretty good, and it’s also free. (The models look a little IMVU-ish, but whatever).

However, there are some hairs which are similar to this one:

Okay, so I guess it’s sort of justified because there’s not much variation you could do with a bob, but still.

And on another, somewhat related note, while I was typing this post, the song Physical was one of the choices on Don’t Forget the Lyrics!

Obligatory Heat Post

For the past few days, there’s been a heat advisory in some parts of New York and New Jersey. Yesterday, it was more than 100 degrees in some parts of the state. And it was pretty hot everywhere else in the country, too. But thanks to pools and air-conditioning, I’m fine. :P It’s times like this where I begin to want a Seasons EP to come out for The Sims 3. Even if open neighborhood and seasons would be a scary combination, it would be nice to dream about.

I got the career mod to work. Since the Generations Patch is nowhere to be found and I can’t update my game, I just got a previous version. Now my Sims can have more job options! ~~The Gamer and Law Careers didn’t work, but I’ll get to that later.~~

And lastly, RIP Amy Winehouse.

TeenNick has ruined their schedule yet again. And just a month after I praised them for changing up their schedule. This week, TeenNick is going to begin to air The 90’s Are All That, which is a block consisting of old Nickelodeon shows, like Clarissa Explains it All, All That, Ren and Stimpy, Doug (Which I believe Disney owns the copyright to but I’m not sure). The problem is, though, this block will take the slots where Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared aired. Both of these shows had a season each, and I’m sure I’ve already seen most of the episodes, but TeenNick pulled Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared (And I believe Buffy, the Vampire Slayer) off of the air already. And what are they airing in place?

Everybody Hates Chris and Malcolm in the Middle. MITM used to air on nick@nite, but then they pulled it off of the air mysteriously, and then it was on TeenNick for a while too, but they stopped showing it, too. And EHC airs on nick@nite as well.

It’s like nick@nite and TeenNick teamed up to piss me off.

Degrassi Now or Never Predictions

Today, TeenNick will begin to air new episodes of Degrassi four nights a week, telenovela style. This will go on until September. Here are my thoughts on what’s going to happen:

Anya will be involved with drugs: Specifically, cocaine. Last season, she was interested in a doctor. This season, she’s going to go out with him, and he’ll probably be the one to introduce her to drugs. Unfortunately, Degrassi will probably have this issue in only two episodes, and forget about it later.

The Imogen/Eli/Clare/Jake Love Polygon will still be boring: Eli and Clare broke up in the season 10 finale, because he was manipulating her (As in, he purposely got into a car crash so she could visit him in a hospital). Jake and Imogen are new characters that are going to be ~~plot devices~~ rebounds for Eli and Clare. Yes, you read that right. Two new characters introduced this season are just going to exist for the sake of a love polygon (I’m not sure if it’s a Love Triangle, or Love Square or whatever at this point).

KC and Jenna will break up: Last season, KC and Jenna had a baby. From these season’s commercials, it appears that KC will cheat on her.

Bianca will be Alex 2.0: Alex was also a tough girl with a bad home life (i.e. money issues, abusive stepfather). All the trailers imply that Bianca’s bad past will catch up with her, too. It looks like an ex-boyfriend is unhappy that she’s moved on (and has a gun?).

And it feels like the finale will be about the Imogen/Eli/Clare/Jake love polygon, since Eli and Clare are a fan favorite and the Degrassi powers that be need good ratings. It doesn’t really help that the finale probably won’t cover the seniors graduating as much as a love polygon that can continue next season.

Mod Installation Help?

Yesterday, I wanted to add some more careers to the game. So, I went to Mod The Sims, and I saw some careers I wanted (Specifically, the Gamer Career and the Law Career. I noticed that I’d have to get twallan's NRaas Career Mod (Which I’d link to, but I can’t seem to find it at the moment), so I downloaded that as well as the careers I wanted last night. However… I have no idea how to install mods. I couldn’t find any tutorials and it wasn’t included in the Read Me file of the mod, so, does anyone know what to do? ~~I should be posting this in a help forum or something, shouldn’t I?~~

EDIT: I tried installing a couple of mods with mixed results. I tried a No Sparkles Mod and a No Intro Mod, which both worked. However, the Career Mod(Which I found the link for) didn't work.

The Battle of the Labyrinth Review

This week, I read The Battle of the Labyrinth, the fourth book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I bought the book in April 2010, so I figured that it would be a good time to read it. :P And guess what? This book doesn’t count for my summer reading, although the first book in the series does. That’s just more support for my “Summer Reading isn’t useless, just extremely unorganized” theory.

I’d love to compare this book to the other books in the series, but I barely remember most of them. I read the second book, The Sea of Monsters, around three and a half years ago. I read the first book, The Lightning Thief, three years ago (Yay for reading things out of order!), and again last year. I read the third book, The Titan’s Curse, three years ago, too. So I could only accurately compare this book to The Lightning Thief.

The first book was more ‘coming-of-age’-y. Like, it related to things like growing up, suddenly having adult responsibilities, not fitting in, and so on. It sort of taught lessons to kids. This book, though, didn’t have lessons. It was just action, if that makes sense. That didn’t really affect the quality of the book. The only thing I noticed was that the ending didn’t have something for me to remember when I finished reading if that makes sense. Like Carrie sort of reminds people not to bully, as does Nineteen Minutes. But this book sort of just ends.

Grover and Tyson, Percy’s not-Half-Blood sidekicks, were annoying as always in this book. I don’t know why I couldn’t stand them. I never have liked either of them at all. They’re just so annoying for no reason in particular. There was a part in the book where Tyson and Grover got lost for a couple of chapters, which was nice. Highlight for spoilers.

Rachel Elizabeth Dare, a girl from one of the earlier books (I don’t know which one), has a bigger role in the story. She’s sort of a foil to Annabeth, because she’s sort of a ‘go with the flow’ person, while Annabeth is more organized.

This book gets really confusing if you don’t know Greek mythology that well. I vaguely remember the twelve Olympians’ roles, but there were still lots of parts of the book which were confusing.

This book wasn’t the best book in the series. There were lots of parts which just dragged on and on. However, if you want to finish this series, or if you’re interested in mythology, then I’d recommend it.

And I just looked up the series on Wikipedia. Apparently, they’re going to be filming the sequel. I don’t know why, really. The first movie was good as a standalone movie, but unfaithful to the book. It made the trio seventeen years old, which is really annoying, seeing as there was a prophecy in the book which stated “Once Percy (OR any other child of Poseidon, Zeus, or Hades) turns sixteen, he will either destroy the world or save it”. Also, Annabeth, who was blonde in the book, was played by a brunette actress, when they could’ve just as easily used Anna Sophia Robb or Dakota Fanning. Or they could’ve used a wig. Plus, two of the three actors for the trio are older than twenty. So by the time they’d finish the movies, one actor would be twentysomething, and the other two would be thirtysomething. And they’re supposed to be playing teenagers.

Plus, the movie didn’t get great reviews, because people were just calling it a Harry Potter knockoff. I haven’t seen or read Harry Potter, so I can’t comment on that.

The nick@nite Executives Read this Blog

And obviously, they want to mess with my head.

Today, I decided to watch George Lopez after not watching it for a while. And I saw a commercial for Married… With Children. It’s going to be on nick@nite, starting some time in July. I think the 11th? I’m confused because nick@nite is targeting soccer moms who don’t want inappropriate programs, (Other than That 70’s Show, of course), yet they’re going to put one of America’s trashiest TV families (After the Conners, of course) on. Don’t get me wrong, Married… With Children is actually an OLD show, so they get points for that. And I’ve seen some episodes on TV Land and Antenna TV, and it’s a pretty good show. But I’m not sure if nick@nite can handle showing more than three shows. Everybody Hates Chris and My Wife and Kids fight for any slot before 10 PM, while George Lopez, The Nanny, and That ‘70s Show fight for every slot before dawn. How will another show affect things?

I hope this means there could be marathons of Married… With Children and The Nanny. I could see it now: The Big Hair Marathon!

Good for you, TeenNick!

A while back, I was complaining about TeenNick’s programming. It was more or less a place for Dan Schneider to dump his old shows. And it was also just another place to watch That 70’s Show. However, things have now changed. Unfortunately, That 70’s Show has now migrated to nick@nite.

And while they don’t have original programming other than Degrassi (And I use the word original loosely, since 1) It’s a reboot of the 80’s version, 2) This one’s been going on since the early 2000’s, and 3) It’s from Canada.), they will be having some other shows this Summer.

For starters, they’ve been showing Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Freaks and Geeks, and Undeclared. Okay, so none of them are new shows. And two of those three only have one season. But at least TeenNick is showing some different shows.

And they’re also having this special called TeenNick Rocks Out. I’ve only seen one promo for it, but I think it’s just a series of concerts of pop artists. And they’re having P!nk, Avril Lavigne, and Kelly Clarkson perform, which is good.

School’s Over!

I finished my finals yesterday, and today was my last day of school. We didn’t do anything today. Well, we just got our final exam grades and final grades. I did pretty good in my classes, other than APUSH. I’m so glad that I won’t have to deal with that class again. Too many freaking cheaters who think too highly of themselves.

My English teacher announced today that next year he’ll be getting a new job in another part of the state. I don’t think I’ve wrote about him that much (or at all), but I didn’t really like him. He never made an effort to hide his favoritism. Everyone was sad over that but I don’t see why. I mean, there wasn’t much of a chance that he’d be their teacher two years in a row, and he gave us his e-mail. Sure, they won’t be able to see him in person, but they’ll probably have a new favorite teacher. Finals have made me bitter, haven’t they? :P

I don’t know what I’m going to do during the summer. Probably begin driving, do my summer reading and watch TV shows. And blog/play Sims.

Still Here

I know I haven’t really posted at all lately. I don’t have any excuses. Having finals to study for and fighting off a cold don’t make me want to blog that much. :\ And whenever I get ideas for posts, I’m offline, but by the time I come back online, I forget those ideas. School ends next week, though.

In other news, though, the new stuff pack is actually the first TS3 stuff pack that looks interesting. The HELS stuff looked crappy, I don’t use cars enough for the Fast Lane items, and I heard Outdoor Life stuff had next to nothing. Stuff for the town is actually something that I’d get. I’m not saying that I would buy it; it’s just the first stuff pack which has an good concept.

Yesterday, I was watching nick@nite , and I was horrified to see a bumper promoting a show that’s coming soon. No, not Friends (Which is going to come this September, according to Wikipedia and some other sites), but That 70’s Show. I understand that I’m usually overreacting about nick@nite’s programming, but I have some ‘legitimate’ reasons for why I don’t want That 70’s Show on nick@nite:

It’s already on three other cable channels – ABC Family, MTV, and TeenNick. Okay, so TeenNick is a premium cable channel, but it’s also on local affiliates.

It’s REALLY out of the target demographic- A show about teenagers on a block with most shows revolving around families. Those teens also smoke pot. I hate to sound like a prude soccer mom who gets offended, but how do the nick@nite executives expect the target audience, families/soccer moms, to like this?

nick@nite has enough shows on their block- On the nick@nite website, they advertise eight shows. Three of them used to get shown a lot, but now are gone or are put on the graveyard slots (The Cosby Show, Home Improvement, and Family Matters). One of them is more or less gone, but nobody’s complaining (Glenn Martin DDS). That leaves Everybody Hates Chris, My Wife and Kids, George Lopez, and The Nanny.

Sadly, nick@nite doesn’t know how to organize those four shows, either. EHC and My Wife and Kids usually fight for any slot before 10:00 PM. George Lopez and My Wife and Kids generally have at least one marathon a month each. And they usually give The Nanny any slot which they other shows haven’t claimed, which barely happens. Now with a fifth show, The Nanny and possibly EHC will get neglected even more.

I get that the nick@nite executives probably figured “Hey, we could get the teen demographic, and since Viacom already has rights to air it from TeenNick and MTV, it won’t cost us as much!”, but really. This isn’t expanding your horizons.

And what happened to their other shows? I remember they used to have The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Full House, but they seemed to just cut both of those out of the schedule.

All of this has me slightly worried. In around five years, will nick@nite consist of Two and a Half Men, According to Jim, and Everybody Loves Raymond, along with My Wife and Kids and George Lopez? Will this happen to TVLand, too?

Take That, EA!

Recently, Fox DC just found out about EA’s horrible exchange (Not the kind of publicity you want when you’re promoting a ‘Family’ expabsion pack, EA). Way to go, Fox and soccer moms(There’s a sentence I thought I’d never say)! This is definitely a big step, and hopefully other news stations and media will report about it after seeing it on Fox. And then the rest of EA’s antics will be discovered, and the world will be happily ever after!

Okay, probably not. In fact, the only thing that could probably happen is that EA becomes stricter on their forum, banning innocent people, yet keeping trolls unbanned. But at least this shows that people are willing to listen. And at least it’s on Google’s News Results for The Sims 3.

Prom-ises, Prom-ises

Earlier this month, Boy Meets World’s Season 5 DVD was released. This is good, for a couple of reasons. First, the only channel that plays Boy Meets World now is ABC Family, and that’s at 7 AM. Sure, I could just DVR it, but my parents more or less claimed the DVR feature, so it’s not really an option for me. Second, season 5 has two episodes that were always banned on Disney Channel, Boy Meets World’s original rerun home. And Disney played BMW on times when people were actually able to watch it. So now fans are able to watch those episodes (Even if they’ve had the black market option for a while now…).

I think the Season 6 DVD is coming in July? While this is kind of quick (3 DVDs in less than a year), I’m glad that the Lionsgate Entertainment company is releasing them quickly, after the 5 year wait Disney put fans through. ~~Maybe they could buy rights for The Nanny, as well?~~

And yesterday, All About Style made some nice prom dresses for teens, to get ready for Generations.

I guess Generations has some perks, after all.

The Sims 3 Generations is Coming Too Soon

When I first heard that The Sims 3 Generations is going to be the next expansion pack, I was excited. When EA finally confirmed it and told us what there would be, though, I got disappointed. No new skills (Though videotaping and/or the chemistry set could have easily been skills), only one new career, no new towns, and the price will still probably be $39.99. What gives, EA? I know you guys are a screwed up company, but you usually put more content in your games. Late Night had four new skills, a town, two new careers, clubbing, celebrities, and vampires. Ambitions had professions, two skills, a town, and traits. But this expansion pack has enough content for around $29.99.

I probably won’t be rushing to the store to get this game. I’ll probably only buy this game if I read lots of good reviews for it (~~Or if EA leaves money in the box…).~~

How I Met Your Mother Rant

The following blog post will contain spoilers if you haven’t seen the May 9th episode of How I Met Your Mother. If you haven’t seen it yet and you don’t want spoilers, don’t read on.

This week on How I Met Your Mother, Ted had to make an important decision on the whole “Arcadian VS GNB Building Plan” Debacle. Originally, Ted was going to choose to demolish the Arcadian, an old hotel. However, there were protests going on about it, and the head protestor, Zoey, had UST with Ted. But Zoey was unhappily married to some guy. They later break up, and Zoey and Ted begin to date. At first, they seemed to work out, but Ted’s friends would always be like “You can’t date someone who’s against the GNB building”, and Ted would reply with “Cross that bridge when we go to it”. Anyway, Zoey told Ted how she used to live there because her family was poor, and then he didn’t want to tear it down. This week, though, it was revealed that Barney would lose his job if Ted didn’t get the Arcadian torn down. Ted decided that Barney was more important than Zoey, so he decides to tear down the Arcadian. Ted and Zoey then break up.

That decision pissed me off. I mean, yeah sure, Ted’s supposed to be a good friend and all, but if it was the other way around, Barney would shrug and tell Ted “Not my problem”. I know that Barney has known Ted longer than Zoey has, and that Ted’s supposed to be the good friend, but Barney’s screwed up Ted’s life before already. It wouldn’t hurt if Barney got fired. Besides, the show would probably have him get his job back in 2 minutes by doing something Marty-Stu-ish.

It always bugs me how Barney is so lucky in the show. Yeah sure, his family life is screwed up, he probably has hundreds of STDs, and he’s emotionally messed up, but the show never portrays him or his decisions as the “Wrong one”. His womanizing and jerk ways are always portrayed comically. And they always give Barney the Large Ham scenes. He always has dream sequences, elaborate costumes, and the craziest plotlines. And meanwhile, Lily and Robin have little episodes about them.

Okay, so this was more of a "I don’t care too much about Barney” blog post, but still. xD

Yes, I’m Still Here

This week hasn’t been the best homework-wise, but oh well, those things aren’t such shocks now.

I didn’t have that much homework today, so I watched some Friends, How I Met Your Mother, and I played Just Dance 2. And I’ve been downloading some custom content.

This week I’ve had lots of allergies, and I didn’t want to take medication because I usually get really drowsy taking it, but I took some yesterday and I feel better again.

I have ‘actual’ stuff to blog about (I.E. not just how my day went posts) but I’ll do that tomorrow.

Model Behavior

Now that I could actually download .package files, I look at custom content on MS3B other than Newsea’s hairs. Today, I saw a nice teen dress from Mod the Sims.

Too bad the comments weren’t nice.

While the models aren’t the best looking, I’ve still seen worse. Like most, if not all, of Twinbrooks citizens. Seriously, Cho Sonwhun and Sofia Carlton are the only Sims that I remember that look like Sims who I’d let enter a legacy. And the one in the middle isn’t that ugly. Then again, it doesn’t help that the Sim on the left has eyebrows that don’t match her hair, and the Sim on the right looks drugged.

Nostalgic Mood

I never really liked the Wii’s game selection as much as the Gamecube’s. There were too many kid friendly games. I’m okay with kid friendly games, as long as they actually sound good. But most don’t. So I’ve only bought a couple of games, and I’ve mostly missed the Gamecube. I knew that you could play Gamecube games on the Wii, but that wasn’t really working for me, even if I did have the memory card and everything ready.

But this Sunday, I tried again, and it worked! Although the memory card stuff got wiped, I could play them again! This means I could go back to Mario Party 7 and Pokemon Coliseum again. :D

So three/four years isn’t nothing to be nostalgic about, but hey. This post was short.

My plans include going to my aunt’s house to celebrate, and eating half my weight in Starburst Jelly Beans. Those are good.

I’ll also be remembering the Armenian Genocide. 96 years ago, 1.5 million Armenians were killed. But you could read more about that here. ~~It really sucks when AT95 and I blog about the same stuff, doesn’t it? Beating the dead horse, much?~~

EA can BS... shocker!

Yesterday, EA answered some questions about the upcoming expansion pack, Generations. Specifically, 75. What did we learn? Not much. They barely gave any straightforward answers about anything, and they were redundant. A lot. It must've suck to be the employee who got stuck with the job of breaking everyone's hopes and dreams.

Really? They just said the same thing for three questions? What the hell? They

..... I didn't have The Sims 2 for the PC, so I don't know what I'm missing, but how nice were baby baths, that this question needed to be asked? Personally, I could go without it, and without this answer. It made me want to strangle a Sim Guru.

Notice how little the response has to do with the actual question. I wanted to read a response for the first question, not hear about pranks. I didn't read the question after the I.E. at first, and I thought "What are they going on for pranks? The question had to do with social stan- oh, wait, nevermind." I thought they just saw the word pranks and began to go on and on and hope nobody would notice.

This question kind of disappointed me. I thought there might be some new recipe- "Grandma's Apple Pie" or something like that. Not only did they shoot down my hopes of those stuff, they had to tell us this information as a consolation prize.

Well, on the plus side, I lost some interest in Generations. Yeah, sure, I might eventually buy it, but with these 75 questions, I suddenly stopped being so excited about it.

Rinne the Rip-Off

Newsea went back to doing what he does best: Slightly editing a hairstyle, yet calling it an entirely different hair. The latest offender? Rinne.

It doesn’t really help that this is one of the most common hairstyles for males in The Sims 3. Honestly, at this point, whenever I see a non-side-swept bang hairstyle available, I more or less automatically get it.

~~But on the plus side, the hair color used for Rinne is nice…~~

Driving Stuff

I passed the written Driver’s Test in November. I turned 16 at the end of January. I got the permission slip to take driving lessons 2 weeks ago. I got the want to drive… never.

I was supposed to begin driving lessons last week, but after seeing the prices online, I didn’t want to drive. I also remembered how my Driver’s Ed teacher told our class that we have to make appointments early, because the DMV and stuff are always busy. That pretty much turned me off from driving. This means that I could only take the driving lessons/ 6 hours on weekends. And I’m not even sure if they’re open on the weekends. And I get lots of homework most weeknights, so even if I don’t have homework, it’s not like I could go to them because they’re busy.

I think I’m the only teen who has no drive to learn how to drive (Pun intended). I mean, I do want to learn how to drive eventually (As in, before junior year), but not right now. I also forgot almost every single driving law (Other than alcohol is bad, wear a seatbelt, and obey the speed limit) there is. Gas prices and car accidents and stuff also make me lose my interest to drive. I guess I’ll just learn during the summer.

This makes me envy how easy driving is in the Sims. Once you’re a teen, you’re able to drive. No gas to worry about (Unless you’re Eco-Friendly), no car accidents (Even with the weird bus turns), and no driving lessons. Just a creepy Vehicle Enthusiast trait.

Medieval Hairs Look Good?

The latest fad on My Sims 3 Blog is probably hair conversions from The Sims Medieval ~~and poses~~. Oddly enough, these hairs look… better than most hairs I’ve seen for guys. They’re not just emo-ish hairstyles with the bangs in the front. They look like hairstyles from real life.

And frankly, these hairs are pretty good for EA. So, good job, EA/ People who convert these hairs!

It feels like whenever I blog about something, the next day or week, there’s an update to that ‘story’. I was complaining about how kids have nothing to do, and then Generations was announced. When I said I got a new e-mail, I forgot the password the next week. (One of my laptops got a virus, so I worried and changed my passwords for everything… and I forgot what I changed it to. I never mentioned that, did I?)
Anyway, a few weeks ago, I wanted to learn how to install .package files. And this weekend, I did. Sort of. I still haven’t tried mods and stuff, but I’m able to get hairs and clothes. Which is nice, since most of non-female young adult custom content is in .package format. ~~Prepare for more Hairrifying posts.~~
And I finished my homework for the break, too. :D

Since it’s Confirmed…

It took nearly a month for The Sims 3: Generations to be officially confirmed by EA. I remember hearing about it during Winter Break, when it was just a rumor. And now, during Spring Break, EA has officially acknowledged Generations for a couple of days now. I really want to know what took them so long. Especially if a trailer got leaked and everything. But now with another trailer, and other official stuff, here are my thoughts on the new stuff announced.

I feel like EA put in memories to calm everyone down, after all their scandals. Will they calm down everyone, though? Probably not. Every time that EA releases a game, there are lots of glitches. And memories alone won’t be able to replenish EA’s reputation. Only time will tell, though.

I wonder why EA’s only putting in two traits this time, too. Rebellious seems to be more or less just “Your Sim likes to prank,” which they could’ve call “Prankster” or something. When I think of rebel, I think of cutting school, stealing, breaking curfew, and vandalism, not pranksters. The Nurturing trait seems like it’s only for strict parents/elders, or “Goody-two shoes” teens. Kind of like stuff they could have put for Family Oriented.

I’m really glad that kids, teens, and elders are getting stuff to do, because those are the most boring stages in the game. The new costumes and playground stuff will hopefully add stuff for kids to do. I’m curious on what they want to do for graduations. I have a feeling it’s just going to be an average party, except with teens in graduation robes. And maybe monetary gifts.

I’m still not going to get it at its release. I’ll still be in school then, and I’ll have finals to worry about. And $40 is too much for any EA game (I’ve said that too much on this blog, haven’t I?). Plus, I’d rather read about the glitches and stuff, rather than experience them firsthand.

Late Night

I’ve been playing in Late Night for a while, and I’m a bit impressed. As much as EA sucks (And I find new reasons to hate them everyday), this game isn’t completely horrible. Yeah, sure, I haven’t explored everything fully yet, so this will probably change later.

Things I like

New Skills
- Now, Sims who I feel could be musicians don’t have to be limited to the guitar. The Symphony career makes sense now! Sure, I'll probably never make another Sim garden or fish because of the new music skills, but oh well.
- Mixology seems like a fun skill. Then again, after having the same old skills for a while, I’m okay with any new skill.
New Objects
- The Nightclub stuff (Strobe light, Disco ball thing ~~Which I totally forgot the name of~~, special effect machine, and dance floor) are nice, because now clubs could actually look like clubs.
- The hot tubs! These were some of the only stuff I remember positively from The Sims 2 Pets for the Wii (That needs an abbreviation).
- I still don’t know how to put elevators in properly, but I think I’d like them if they functioned properly.
- I’m okay with the fish tank being virtual, since I’m not too fond with the fishing skill.
- The bubble bar is another must have for clubs.
- The new couches, bathroom, and kitchen stuff look better than the base game ones.

Things I don’t like

Bridgeport

I decided to play in Bridgeport because I didn’t feel like putting the clubs and stuff individually in a different town. Plus, I thought the penthouses and other features would be cool. The apartments weren’t really that great because of the whole ‘One household an apartment’ thing. Also, as big as it is, it’s impossible to put your own lots in the town, because of how little flat land there is.

Of course, these stuff probably vary based on how you play (Legacies, stories, one person households, etc.).

And when will EA confirm Generations? It’s been like a month since it’s been rumored, and we haven’t even heard if the trailer’s real or not.

My Sims 3 Bucket List

Recently, I’ve been thinking of stuff I’d like to do before my interest in TS3 dies down, or the fandom disappears, or whatever. I’ve been looking around at lots of stuff in the community and I get inspired to do lots of stuff, but real life takes over a lot, so I can’t do everything, obviously :P (And I still only have schoolwork to complain about! </whiny teenager>). I know most stuff are just ‘temporary’ wants, like nothing serious, but I still feel like writing this down somewhere.
In no particular order, here’s the list:

Learn how to install .packages, mods, and the like. (Yup, I still don’t know how to. Don’t judge?)
Write a story.
Make normal looking houses (As in, houses which look like they could exist in real life).
Make community lots that look like a place ~~I’d~~ outgoing extroverts who aren’t computer addicts would go to.
Be able to create accurate celebrity Sims.
Make a self Sim.

So that list turned out to be shorter than I thought.

I haven’t been sleeping that well since DST. Aside from DST going against my already mixed up sleeping schedule, I’ve had lots of homework these past two weeks which has lead to tiredness and after school naps. The only times I’ve been able to sleep well is weekends. –_- Oh well, spring break is coming.

I have lots of homework to do and some plans, so I have no idea why I’m still online.
And in other news, Gwen Stefani has donated $1 million for relief efforts in Japan. And the Sprouse Bros are starring in their first DCOM. That seems odd for Disney. Usually they recycle actors whenever they can. And Annelise Von Der Pol is going to guest star on Shake it Up! . And Fran Drescher will have a TV Land sitcom!

Cheaters Caught!

I’m pretty sure most people have done some cheating during their academic career. That’s okay. I don’t really have a problem with some homework being done the class before it’s due, or getting an answer or two from a friend. However, people not having read books in a couple of years, or using websites extensively is where I drop the line.

This year in my APUSH class, lots of people are cheating. Too much. I’m not one of those people who are like “OMG CHEATERS! MUST TELL THE TEACHER!!!”, but it’s been getting on my nerves. These people don’t even bother to hide their cheating. I always hear some particular kids brag about how they always use CourseNotes.org for outlines and the teacher always gives them As. I see these people in the library at lunch finding information for the in class DBQs. When there are substitute teachers and we have busywork, these students always are ~~working together~~ straight out cheating (I. E. “I’ll do 1 and 2 if you do 3 and he does 4, 5, and 6*). But apparently these people never get caught. For a while, I was considering joining them, but I always was hesitant, just in case I’d be the first one to be caught.

However, today, justice has finally reached that class. Or the closest thing to it.

Today, in class, our teacher announced that he’s aware that ~~some~~ half the class plagiarizes their outlines from websites. He also said that we have to handwrite them now, so even if the cheaters use these website, they’ll have to read the content. The (caught) cheaters received Fs for this outline. However, he said he’s probably not going to tell the administration. What? Plagiarism is plagiarism. They’ve been doing this since the beginning of the year. They’ve cheated on other stuff, too. And then there are these people’s other classes. Why should he let this slide?

Good Hair, Bad Name

After Newsea’s last two hairs, Born This Way and Dreamscape, I was afraid that Newsea was going back to unconventional hairstyles. After nice hairs like Desperate and Innocent, I was afraid that Newsea was tired of making good, realistic hairs. But this hair is nice.

And it looks like Newsea found new models, too. Ones with less vacant stares. And huge earrings.

But is Newsea drawing these names from a hat or something? The names and hairs can’t be any more unrelated.

Somebody get Nick Cannon off of TeenNick!

Okay, so I’m pretty sure that Nick Cannon has no actual say for what programs go on TeenNick, but I’m still not too fond of him being on the network. Yes, I’m not really a fan of him because he’s married to Mariah Carey, and I don’t really like her, either. And yes, if it wasn’t for Degrassi, I wouldn’t really watch the network. But I still feel like making this post.

A couple of years ago, when TeenNick was on the same channel as Noggin, there were more ‘original’ shows. As in, not just iCarly, Victorious, and Drake and Josh. I vaguely remember there being shows like Instant Star and Radio Free Roscoe, or other shows which were only on The-N (And in Canada). Now, though, it feels like the only non-Nick shows are Gigantic and Degrassi.

I’m guessing this is because TeenNick, which used to be a block on Nickelodeon, is now gone, so Nickelodeon’s wanting to put their shows on another TeenNick. This is stupid, though. I mean, iCarly and the other Schneider Shows are still on back to back- it’s the TeenNick block in everything but name. Maybe TeenNick, the channel, needs lots of programs, and these Schneider shows are a good way to fill up those time slots without buying rights to shows?

The problem with all these Nick shows being on TeenNick, though, is that they have different demographics. iCarly and Victorious do not target the same teens as Degrassi and other shows do. Sure, a channel could have multiple demographics, but that’s not the case. It’s flat out Network Decay. For those unfamiliar with TV Tropes, Network Decay is pretty much when a channel changes its programming and demographic completely. In fact, TV Tropes actually mentioned The N in that article, too (They’re in the Major Shifts That Fit section, if anyone’s interested).

So basically, TeenNick’s cutting out their teen dramas for more kidcoms.

But I heard that TeenNick will begin to air 90’s shows, like Clarissa Explains it All in the Fall of 2011. However, it will be from midnight to 2 AM, so while most teens won’t be able to watch, at least twentysomething year olds can.

Generations and Unleashed

A couple of weeks ago, I had a post on how there’s next to nothing for kids to do in The Sims 3. Later, The Sims 3 Generations was rumored to be announced, ironically. Now, there have been screenshots and a trailer for not only Generations but for Unleashed, as well.

And honestly? I’m unimpressed by both.

From the Generations trailer:

I thought the toddler scenes were already able to be created. They didn’t show anything new. I’m sure that there are tons of pictures of toddlers learning skills already. It didn’t look like anything you’d need the EP for that.
Kids’ costumes? Cute. I think they might be in the store already (I don’t really keep up with the store so I’m not sure), and I’m pretty sure there’s already CC costumes. But hey, still cute.
Tree houses seem nice. I’m no coding expert, but I think that it would be programmed the same way the Jungle Gym would be, so I wonder why EA hasn’t created it before.
Stink bombs seem bad. And so do the other pranks. I’m guessing they’ll just amount to a bad moodlet, or something?
The teen party seems fun, but something that could be done in the base game (Or with LN if you want more bar/club stuff).
Water slides look cool.
Prom? Possible with the base game.
The bachelor party looks like it got left out of LN, and it’s possible with the base game.
Weddings! Yay! They need more wedding stuff. Seriously, I’ve been making my Sims’ weddings private elopements because the parties are so disorganized. But this should’ve been in the base game.
Midlife crisis makes stink bombs seem like a good idea.
I think the home videos (Last thing in the trailer) is adorable. Finally my elders will have stuff to do!

So the best ideas seem to be tree houses, water slides, and home videos? Yeah, I think I might want to hear some more about this EP. Another Twitter session would be nice.

And for the Unleashed trailer? To start this off, I’m going to be honest. I’m not so happy for pets coming back. I mean, the community might just stop complaining about missing their beloved pets (~~That sounds ruder than I thought it would~~), but I’m less than eager for pets. They would be cute at first in The Sims 2 Pets for the Wii, but then they’d be a nuisance. Then again, I’m pretty sure the console version will be nothing like the PC version. Anyway, on to the video.

Deer and raccoons in the game? Awesome. Okay, not really, but it sounds nice.
The park reminds me of the park from the Wii game.
Maybe there could be new community lots- Dog parks?
Skunks? Probably more moodlet givers, but oh well.
These pet traits seem vague. Another memory from the Wii game: I always gave the pets independent so their social need wouldn’t always go down, but they still were always feeling lonely.
Horses seem to be out of place for some of the neighborhoods (Specifically, Bridgeport), but if it’s what the fans want, I’ll accept it.

Again, I’ll need to know more about it before buying it.

March Madness

I’ve never really been a fan of March. There aren’t any week long vacations, the weather’s still not that great, I get too much homework, and a bunch of other reasons. However, this March is definitely going worse than other Marches.

This March, I have gotten too much homework so far. Japan had an earthquake/ tsunami. And The Sims 3 Community might as well be falling apart.

I get that all three are inevitable. School means homework, natural disasters happen, and fandoms die, too. But I hate how the last one happened. One too many trolls, crappy ‘moderators’, and glitches finally ruined the fun for everyone else.

Nothing else to say about this. I just wanted to say this.

Today, it was announced that Charlie Sheen was fired from his show, Two and a Half Men, for various antics and shenanigans. Since Charlie Sheen was more or less the driving force behind the show, the show will probably get cancelled now.

Personally, I’m happy that Two and a Half Men is ending. Personally, I never found the show entertaining (~~Ignore that I’m far too young to be in the target audience)~~, and Charlie Sheen had it coming after all his crazy ~~hairlines~~ headlines. Plus, Angus T. Jones is growing up- the show should be called Three Men by now.

However, Sheen’s selfishness is bothering me. John Cryer and Angus T. Jones will (Along with the other actors and people employed because of TAAHM) have to find new roles. But I heard Angus is the highest paid child star, so maybe it’s time for him to focus on education? Also, CBS/Warner Bros/ Whoever else in charge will probably lose lots of money because of syndication stuff. Apparently TAAHM was supposed to have syndication deals which depended on a certain amount of episodes, but if the show gets cancelled, they can’t syndicate it?

The laptop I use to play The Sims 3 on broke on the 12th. Specifically, the AC Adapter broke. I found the part online from one website, however, my dad found a better deal on another website so we ordered that last Friday. I didn’t look up reviews for that website, because I didn’t have time. Last Saturday, I ordered Late Night from Amazon. Late Night came yesterday, and the AC adapter still has to arrive. Today, I decided to search the site, laptopz.com, for reviews, and was baffled with the results:

So don’t buy from Laptopz.com!
And the Better Business Bureau gave their company an F.
For once I wasn’t able to play the Sims 3… and EA had nothing to do with it.

Neither the laptop part nor Late Night (Which we ordered from Amazon) came yet. Okay, so today IS President’s Day, so I wasn’t expecting to get it, but the site we ordered the laptop part from said it would come today. Wouldn’t the site keep track of stuff like President’s Day? But Amazon said that LN was coming Wednesday, but now they’re saying it’s coming tomorrow, so…

And it snowed. Just when all the snow almost melted.

A Minor Complaint

Not being able to play The Sims 3 has really made me remember the days when I didn’t have Sims 3 yet, and how I used to just read lots of Sims 2 legacies. One of the key things that I remember about the legacies were all the stuff the kids used to be able to do, like play soccer, board games, and play in the snow. It feels like in The Sims 3, though, kids have less things to do. They have playground stuff, and the bake sale that comes with Ambitions. They can play in the sprinklers, swim, and play tag. They could even do ‘adult’ (For lack of a better phrase) activities, like write books, paint, and fish. But it still feels like they could do next to nothing.

Judging by all the different sliders, I know most of the demographic probably doesn’t give a crap about kids, so it would be stupid for EA to make more kids things in EPs and/or patches. They have even more glitches and bugs to fix, so it would be stupid for them to make this stuff. But hey, this is just wishful thinking.

It doesn’t really help that most of the CC community (Or at least the MS3B people) treats Sim-kids the same way adults in Toddlers and Tiaras treat their kids- like little porcelain dolls. It’s like the Suri Cruise fashion collection! Every toddler and child has no expression on their face- no laughter, no smile. Have these people even been near real kids?

Sure, I don’t really know what I’d want kids to do, to be honest. I’d just wish they’d have some new stuff in EPs.

One of the things I dislike about Newsea’s hairs is that the all look alike after a while. Specifically, guy hairs. They’re mostly the same short hair, like the Cloud, the Rainy Season, the Roy, and the Tennis. However, today ~~s/he posted~~ I saw a hairstyle that was different. As in, not just the “short hair with bangs”.

Okay, so it depends on you if the hair’s a nice alternative to hair with bangs, or if it’s ugly, but I personally think it’s nice. Even if it is a little “Rick Astley”.

And in laptop related news, my dad ordered it yesterday, so we’ll be getting the part tomorrow or Monday. And we have no school next week so .

It’s an actual normal hair, and it’s nice. I like the child’s hair color. The other two? Not at all. I don’t get why Newsea keeps on using that ugly platinum blonde hair. Especially with those roots. And then the other one is better, but it j looks painfully orange. It’s not just bright spray tan orange (Like what Hayley Williams’s hair looks like), or somewhat realistic. It’s just in between, in a bad way, and again, the roots are too dark. But then again, that’s just my opinion.

Sadly, I can’t download it, because my Simming laptop’s AC Adapter (A part of the charger) broke.

This week was the first full week of school we’ve had since… December 2010. As in, first full five day week, without any inclement weather issues. For some reason, this meant that my teachers decided to give me loads of homework. Okay, so the loads of homework stopped Tuesday, meaning I haven’t had that much since Wednesday. But still, that explains my absence. I really hate using the “Sorry guys, I have schoolwork” excuse. It’s so overused. But sometimes, real life happens.

The snow’s starting to melt a bit. I might actually see grass before March!

And I think I know what electives I want to take. Math SAT Prep, Contemporary Issues Honors, and AP US Gov. Contemporary Issues Honors is more or less “Discuss current events”, and I heard the teacher’s nice, which is good. AP US Gov also has a nice teacher, and I heard it’s an easy AP class. On the other hand, I might not stay in APUSH (I’m conferencing with my teacher about it next week), so I don’t know if I should take another AP class. I also want some ‘fun’ electives, because with those electives, the only “nonacademic” class would be gym. So, yeah.

And speaking of electives, we got new ones this semester- Computer Science, and Computers in Art (AKA Photoshop). Computer Science is okay so far. It’s still in the introduction stage, which is annoying, but I’m hoping that it’s just a phase. Computers in Art isn’t in the intro phase, which is good, but the teacher talks too much for the lectures and gives little time for assignments. Oh well.

Early Dismissals, and Delays, and Snow Days, oh my!

Yesterday, we 'had' an early dismissal. Well, it was already an early dismissal for the high schoolers because of midterms, so it really was for the rest of the district. Then, we got a call saying there was going to be a delay, which turned into a snow day. The problem? We're still taking midterms. So instead of finishing them today, we'll be finishing them tomorrow. And they were really supposed to end Tuesday. I really want them to just end already. Yeah, sure, I only have two midterms left, but it's all just so annoying.

And in non-school related news, Late Night still is $39.99. Really? It's been out for like what, three months? Wouldn't it be less? Yes, it's EA, and I have no business knowledge whatsoever (I should probably take some business classes, now that I think of it), but still, with Outdoor Living Stuff in stores, I'd think Late Night would get a little less expensive. Oh well, I could still wait.

No School Today!

Because of lots of snow, midterms for today got pushed back a day. Yeah, sure the whole “Let’s get it over with” method can’t really work now, but oh well. At least I get another day to study for AP USH. There’s been so much snow this winter that I don’t think I’ve seen grass that much since 2010.

This January went by quickly. I’ve had a lot of early dismissals, snow days, delayed openings, and even a religious holiday this month, which is good, because January usually just drags on and on.

And Mayor Bloomberg decided to close the NYC public schools, which was pretty good. They didn’t get a snow day a couple of weeks ago, and I heard that the NYC snow plow people didn’t do the best job everywhere, so it’s nice that the kids get a day off.

And yesterday, on My Sims 3 Blog, Newsea (ironically) made a free hair, which was less than warmly received. Even for a Newsea hair. Offensive comments related to sexuality, disabilities, and race flooded the comment box. How did this hair look anyway?

Yikes. The bangs look okay. The ponytail? I repeat, yikes.

Some Shows don’t know when to end

Last month, Larry King Live ended after 25 years. Oprah’s show is also ending after 25 years. Sunday, Hannah Montana ended after 5 years. And two days ago, Regis Philbin announced that he will be leaving his talk show.
However, some shows just don’t know when to end. Like American Idol. After 10 seasons, plenty of rule changes, and new judges, this show just won’t stop. But why?
Other than the obvious reason, money, it’s puzzling why the show’s still on. The past few winners haven’t been that famous or successful, and at this point, the real winners are the runner-ups and other contestants who aren’t contractually obliged to 19 Entertainment.
With both Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell gone from the judging table this year, the show won’t be the same. While the contestants’ talents always varied, the judges’ antics would always be there. But now that the two interesting judges are out of the picture, why will people watch?
As rude as this sounds, I personally want to see the show end already. I mean, with Simon bringing The X Factor and Paula Abdul with that one new dance show (Live to Dance?), the more memorable judges have new shows, so people could just watch those. And I’m pretty sure the new ‘It Reality Show’ is Dancing with the Stars. So can’t it just end already? Ten seasons is a good run, right?

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, everyone. I hope you had a good time today, whether you had to go to school/work or not. We had a half day here, which most of my classmates on Facebook weren’t so crazy about. Yeah, sure, I’d rather have school closed, too, but I didn’t go far as calling the school district racist. I mean, not closing on a national holiday is the same thing as segregation, discrimination, and no religious freedom, right? And besides, there are ethnic, national, and religious holidays everyday. Do you expect to have no school every holiday? Also, teachers paused the curriculum and had a lesson related to Martin Luther King, Jr. ~~And I’m pretty sure that most of these students wouldn’t observe the holiday if there was no school, but I’ll give everyone the benefit of a doubt.~~

I had little homework today, so I went to the mall once the half day was over. Most of the stores that I go to are getting less gender neutral. A year ago, the stores that I went to had one side for guys, and the other for girls, with the middle having clothes for both genders. A couple of months ago, the middle had more stuff for girls. Now, not only is the middle completely for girls, but girl clothes is in the guy section, too. Okay, Aeropostle executives (Or whoever is in charge of stuff like this), I stick with your store even if some of the clothes is like a walking advertisement. Can’t you be nicer with your customers (~~Where have I heard that question before?~~)?

And in other news, there’s a new How I Met Your Mother tonight, but The Joy Behar Show got moved to 10 PM for Dr. Drew. I don’t see why Drew couldn’t get the 10 PM slot. I mean, Joy’s is (somewhat) of a comedy, while Drew’s show is about rehab and addiction. Wouldn’t it make more sense to push that show?

Feed: The Review

I read the book Feed by M.T. Anderson recently for school. While I had to look for dystopian qualities in the book, it was a way better book once I stopped looking for those.

Basically, it’s a story about sometime in the future, where people have a computer-transmitter-thing implanted in their brains when they’re born. This transmitter works like the internet advertising business.They use people’s thoughts and interests to market stuff to them. ~~Okay, go to Wikipedia for a better summary on how the Feed works.~~ Anyway, the story follows Titus, a teen who meets this nonconformist girl, Violet, who’s against the feed. Problem? Titus is all for the feed. However, opposites attract, and they become a couple.

The book is written with all kinds of made up future slang, which makes it a bit painful to read sometimes, but it’s nothing too serious. The characters also swear a lot.

Spoilers for the book below. Don’t read on if you want to read the book.

I like how Titus’s and Violet’s relationship was kind of shown realistically. They went to teen clubs together, they had a good time. They went to the mall together, they were happy. But once Violet began to have problems with her feed and things got serious, they began to grow apart. Then, Violet trusted Titus too much, and he didn’t care for her, and they broke up.

This book made me remember an article I saw online a while back about what kids born in 2011 will never know. A lot of these things on the list applied to the story, like wires, fax machines, catalogs, the evening news, and others.

Overall, I’d say this book was sort of good, even though things began to suck towards the end. If you desperately want to read something, then read it. But if you want to read great literature or a masterpiece or whatever, find something else.

I know that I watch a lot of shows from the ‘90s, like The Nanny and Friends, and I’ve begun to watch Roseanne (and rewatch Boy Meets World) more, and I used to watch Full House, but I never thought I could watch too much from the nineties. Interestingly enough, I’m wrong, and there might just be a limit.

Today, All About Style made some new dresses.

Snow Day!

Tomorrow (or today, seeing as it’s past 12), I have no school, because of snow. Yeah, sure, all these early dismissals and snow days and religious observations aren’t the smartest thing before midterms, but hey, snow days might go extinct because of global warming (Okay, that sounds highly inaccurate and illogical). I don’t know what I’ll do tomorrow, but it’ll probably depend on how much snow there is. Hopefully playing some Sims?

And in a two-decades-too-late recap, I just watched some episodes of Roseanne (Sometimes it’s the only thing to watch after 10 PM ). It was the ‘End of the bike shop/ Becky’s elopement’ arc. I sided with Becky on that one. I mean, Dan/Roseanne using her college fund to make a business for a hobby, and neither of them had any skills/ experience with running a store? Bad choice. Yelling at poor Becky (Who I think was a good student) because she felt ripped off? Worse. I mean, yeah, the elopement thing was a bad way to deal with it, but still, it was a little absurd for them to be mad at her when it was kind of their fault.

Anyway, I’m going to bed now.

…it’s snowing outside, yet your laptop might as well be hotter than the sun.

Today, there was lots of snow, so we got an early dismissal from school, and yesterday, I didn’t go to school, because I was observing Armenian Christmas (And doing lots of homework). Normally, I’d be elated (SAT Prep word!) with this, but I have lots of work for most classes, so I’ll be spending this weekend doing homework.

Monday’s How I Met Your Mother was good, yet sad. They mentioned Armenians (And not with a cheap Kardashian reference), which is always a good thing, but it wasn’t exactly flattering. I’m glad they didn’t leave Marshall’s and Lily’s fertility/pregnancy storyline for the season finale. Let’s face it, most shows leave pregnancies and childbirths for season finales. So you’re telling me every woman in a sitcom gets pregnant or gives birth in May and June? The only exceptions are probably Phoebe Buffay on Friends, who got pregnant in January and gave birth in October. Where was I again? :P Apparently there was a countdown leading to the bad news, but I didn’t notice it.

Jersey Shore premiered with its 3rd season. Angelina (The only roommate I could sympathize, shockingly), isn’t on, so my interest for the show is gone. I don’t even know how they’ve been filming the show since season 2. I mean, now that the cast knows that they’re celebrities, are they just sleeping with anything ~~in sight~~ that moves and getting drunk as they can for the ratings? Is it becoming more scripted now? I have a feeling that the show might be going downhill, even if this season had the best ratings. While almost all of the people at my school watched it, most of them said “It’s getting stupid now”, which means that people are getting tired of it, hopefully. And apparently, there are going to be new versions of this show, but with other regions, including a southern version, which will be just as much of a train wreck as the original, but I’m somewhat interested in watching.

2010 in Review

Looking back, 2010 was rough. Lots of disasters happened, like the Haiti earthquake, the Gulf Oil Spill, and the Iceland volcano eruption. The Winter Olympics and the World Cup also happened this year, and so did the vuvuzuelas. It was a good year for the Jersey Shore cast, and a bad year for Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, and Tiger Woods. EA drove its customers crazy, yet managed to deliver two expansion packs loved by the fanbase. Toy Story 3, Harry Potter, and Inception were box office hits. And lots of people collected animal bracelets.

TV Show King 2

A while back, I complained about the lack of good games for the Nintendo Wii. Mike suggested getting some Wii Ware games, like TV Show King. After researching it, I found out there was a sequel for it and decided to get that later. When my brother bought me 2000 Wii Points for Christmas, I decided to get it. Surprisingly, it was great.
The game has a lot of different elements from game shows, like the wheel (Wheel of Fortune), suitcases (Deal or No Deal). It also has a traditional question/answer format, ~~like almost every other game show imaginable~~ which has categories from general knowledge to sports, to science, and to literature.
The questions are good, and eclectic (~~I never thought I’d use that word in my blog~~). There are some easy questions, but there are some hard ones, too. It depends on what you know, though. If you keep up with movies and TV shows and stuff, those categories (probably) will be a breeze for you. There’s also a math section, which has pretty easy questions. If you’re a sports fanatic, then you’re in luck for those parts. Anyway, the questions are mixed. Unless you’re experts in all those areas, you probably won’t get all the questions right, which is good, because being in the lead all the time isn’t always fun. You could also make your own questions.
The wheel could change the entire game. That goes both ways, though. Most of the time, it will result to yelling at the game in a way similar to Mario Kart cursing, or cheering.
The graphics are pretty good, especially for a Wii game. There are lots of colors, and the Miis are well drawn, too.
Overall, this is a fun game. The only thing is that I couldn’t play on Wi-fi, but I’m not sure if it’s a technical problem, or if nobody else was playing at the time. It’s a fun party game, and it’s only for 800 Wii Points.

Happy New Year, everyone. I know it still isn’t midnight, but in most of the world, it’s already 2011. I think it became 2011 an hour ago in Syria, where my parents are from. Like Snooki, I’ll be spending my New Year’s in New Jersey; unlike her, I’m staying at home.

I don’t have any resolutions so far, though the typical ‘Go online less’ ‘Get better grades’ and ‘Make new friends’ stuff are good back-up resolutions.

I hope all of you have a great 2011, and remember, don’t drink and drive!

The Late Night Dilemma

Last week, I saw a Sims 3: Late Night game for $29.99 on the Target website, and a couple of other stores. However, I don’t like ordering stuff online, and I didn’t feel like going to a store to buy it at the moment, so I just thought “Hey, why not get it next week? I mean, after Christmas specials will make it more or less the same price, right?”

Turns out I was wrong.

Now, most places, it’s $39.99.

I don’t want to buy it now, because the price might drop in a couple of weeks. Also, it’s an EA game we’re talking about. I’m not going to be so willing to give them money. On the other hand, this week might be the only time I could ‘really’ play (as in, for more than just half an hour or so), because midterms are coming up. Plus, I got some money for Christmas, so I could use that.

To those of you who have Late Night, when do you think I should get it? Now, or in a couple of weeks? Would you say it’s worth $40, or should I wait until it gets less expensive?

I’d say this is a new record. Usually, I’d finish by Thursday or something. But then again, the blizzard which has kept me at home cancelled my plans of going to the mall.

Christmas Eve was good. Christmas Day was a little boring, but still good.

And in other news, we’re almost done with the Timberson Legacy!

Apparently, ABC Family has updated their schedule. A ‘new’ show, Still Standing, is on, as well as My Wife and Kids, That ‘70s Show, and 8 Simple Rules. I wish they’d get Boy Meets World or even Sister, Sister on. It sucks how ABC Family is either the channel which satisfies my craving for stuff from the ‘90s (Hey, they sometimes show ‘90s movies and shows), or the channel which has one too many teen dramas (Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Life of an American Teenager, and others). Yes, I haven’t seen those shows, so I don’t have a right to judge them, but if it’s called ABC Family, why do all their shows appeal to teen girls?

I have to stop making personal life updates. They’re always so short.

Life's a Game and it's not Fair...

Wow. I'm using the Blogger website to write a post for once. No, there's nothing wrong with Windows Live Writer. I'm typing on my desktop which is somewhat old, so I can't risk downloading anything unneeded.

Today, I didn't have a lot of homework to do, so I decided to stay after. There's an annual hallway decorating contest (How Martha Stewart/ Nate Berkus) at my school by grade, and the winning class get money for the prom, so I wanted to help.

It was a disaster.
My grade had a meeting (Which I couldn't go to, because of personal errands), and decided on a theme. The theme was a famous board game, yet nobody knew how to decorate with it (Name of the board game left out for anonymity reasons). Not much people showed up, and there were even less stuff brought in. The class president, SRB, and the VP-lackey were just complaining how nobody else brought stuff in, and how there was such a low attendance rate (They didn't bring stuff, either). However, the teacher who was advising our class called them out for it, saying (More or less):

Okay, being in the student government does not mean that you could boss others around all the time. You shouldn't have just expected everyone else to bring stuff in. You guys should have brought some stuff, too. If you only brought yourselves, what were you expecting?

Oh yeah, and neither SRB or VP knew anything about the game (Which is famous, like 'The Game of Life' level), so the decorations were facepalm-worthy. I told them 'Have you ever even played the game?', and the teacher agreed with me (Not sure how you could agree to a question, but it makes sense in context).

And by the end, the decorations were shoddy.

Oh well. There will be other times to fund-raise. And we could just not reelect these people next year. Or impeach. If that's possible for student government.

And tomorrow's the start of my Christmas/Holiday Break.

This week was Stressful

I could fully explain why, but that would be stupid for anonymous stuff, and it would be time consuming. ~~Plus, I don’t think anyone would really want to hear about my selfish teen complaints, when there are people dying everywhere and stuff.~~

The short version: My APUSH teacher got mad at us again, and gave us busy work. I stayed up till 11:30 doing it. Then I couldn’t sleep, because I was nervous for that class (~~And because I had tea and some Chips Ahoy which probably gave me caffeine)~~ until 1: 10, maybe?

Then a Photo project which I stayed after school for, a lot, got graded, and I got… a B-. On the rubric, he told me what I had to fix. He couldn’t just say that in person, when I still could’ve fix it? .-.

My Biology teacher' forgot we have other classes to study for and gave us a hard quiz.

My English teacher made sure my brother and I can’t work together on a project, and had to give a BS reason for why we didn’t work together, instead of just “You two might cheat/ Codependence is bad” or something.

Most of the week, I was waiting for the weekend just so I could sleep eight hours.

Oh well, it’s almost Christmas.

Yesterday, a video got released of Miley Cyrus using a bong. And it showed her having hallucinations of her ex-boyfriend, Liam something.

And this just happened a couple of days after she turned 18.

Miley, listen up: You shouldn’t do stuff like that. Not because ‘It’s bad for you’ (Which is still a valid reason), not because ‘Little kids look up to you’ (Also valid), but because that was probably the stupidest career move you could have done.

Remember Lindsay Lohan? You know, the girl who worked for the Mouse House a couple years before you? Yeah, take a good look at her and her career. That might be you in a couple of years.

Disney (Or any kid company) won’t hire you for anything anymore because of all of this, and no serious film company will hire you because nobody wants to work with a train wreck. Just look at LiLo!

And what did her father say about this?

Sorry guys. I had no idea. Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. Im so sad. There is much beyond my control right now.

I’d let this slide, but she’s taken it too far now. I didn’t think much of her Teen Choice Award Performance, or any other ‘Provocative Wardrobe’ stuff, but this time she was doing something worse than wearing skimpy clothing.

Nonetheless, I want her to get her act together.

While I haven’t actually downloaded them or whatever, I agree with both Anons.

Teen clothes is ~~completely~~ pretty rare ~~(After male clothes of any kind that isn’t underwear)~~, so I’ll probably get it sometime later this weekend.

And Anon #2 has a point. Though if All About Style wanted to replicate realistic winter teen clothes, they’d be better off with sweatshirts, sweatpants, and Uggs. And Northfaces wouldn’t be so bad, either. Just saying.

Elective Rant

Yes, I know it’s not that smart for me to discuss school choice stuff online for anonymous reasons; plus, I’m not going to make this decision until late February-ish, but I feel like this is the only place I could vent and get feedback.

I’m in Photo I this year. It’s a semester course. There are 6 Photo classes in the school at the moment (With budget cuts, that might change but whatever). The last three are independent study classes. As in, everything happens during studies, after school, or other free time.

The other day, I was thinking about whether I should continue Photo and was confused.

The class is fun, and I might want to continue photography outside of high school. Plus, I want to learn how to take better pictures and stuff.

On the other hand, it’s a time consuming, annoying class. Most of the time, I’m taking (and retaking pictures), developing and redeveloping, and the teacher gives me vague advice. A lot.

And plus, there’s only so much classes that I could take. Next semester, I’m taking Computers in Art (Which is pretty much just Photoshop), and Computer Science I (Which is like computer programming stuff). Next year, I’m (probably) taking Math SAT Prep, Computer Science 2 Honors, and… that leaves me a semester class. Yeah, sure, I’ll have plenty of space in Senior year to take those electives, but I don’t want to be in classes filled with lowerclassmen. Plus, there’s also another class which I’m interested in, so I want to take that, too.

So, any ideas? Am I just looking too much into this?

It’s the Holiday Season…

…And it’s time for some holiday-related, short rants!

Do Disney and Nickelodeon do holiday related specials, anymore? I know that there’s a Big Time Rush special premiering tonight (Which, they completely spoiled in the commercials for it), and on Disney, the Sonny with a Chance holiday special’s on again, as well as another special, but I forgot what it was. Could the fact that they’re competing be anymore blatant?

And I know that seems like a lot of holiday specials, but:

Hannah Montana hasn’t had any Christmas specials. At all. Especially weird, seeing as the Cyrus family is pretty religious? The closest they’ve had is “Killing me Softly with his Height”, which wasn’t really Christmas themed. It was just about Miley dating a guy who works as an elf at the mall. And she was prejudiced because he was short. They also had “'It’s the End of Jake as We Know it”, which was just about Hannah filming a Christmas special while breaking up with Jake. You’d think they’d have an episode relating to the holiday.
Wizards of Waverly Place hasn’t had any specials, either. I guess since Disney’s using the “They’re magic! And Christmas doesn’t like magic!” excuse.
Jonas, the short-lived show featuring the JoBros, didn’t have any specials, and the Jonases are religious, too.
The network also hasn’t really made any ‘Holiday movies’ like they used to, and they don’t show much, either. And The Ultimate Christmas Present is being shown at 2 PM on a Monday afternoon. And that night, what are they showing? 16 Wishes. One of the worse Disney TV movies.

And at the moment, HM and WoWP are probably the network’s most popular shows. So, why haven’t they done much for the holidays? Disney do you think the holidays are ‘lame’? If you haven’t noticed, ABC Family’s doing the 25 Days of Christmas!

Last Friday, I watched TV’s Funniest Holiday Moments: A Paley Center for Media Center. I didn’t know most of the stuff, but I still laughed at some- specifically the Murphy Brown turkey fiasco, the All in the Family Christmas carolers, and the Seinfeld Christmas card. Friends was on twice, which was awesome, because that show typically gets forgotten about for these types of stuff. It also was number one! So here’s to Friends!

I want to do something Christmas related in The Sims 3, but I don’t know what.

Zynga games everywhere (on Facebook) are having holiday deals for stuff, including Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter decorations (Both cash and free!) and they also have gift cards. The gift cards are pretty blatant, but whatever.

I want to watch Home Alone some time this month. It’s my favorite Christmas movie. Large, semi-dysfunctional family from the ‘90’s during Christmas? Count me in!

Nintendo Rant

WARNING: This is not a ‘Console Wars' rant. If you’re going to comment telling me to buy a ‘PS3 or Xbox 360’, then close the tab. If you’re going to tell me something along the lines of ‘Real gamers don’t play Nintendo’, close the tab.

Today I went to the (somewhat) local mall since I didn’t go yesterday, and I was hoping there would still be good sales (There weren’t any, but oh well). I went to the Gamestop, even though I hate the company, just in case there was anything worth getting. I went to the Nintendo Wii section, since that’s the console I have, and I was annoyed at the game selection.

No, I don’t care that everything is rated E. In fact, I prefer seeing rated E stuff than video games which make soccer moms think video games are killing teens.

It’s the quality of the games which bug me. A lot.

Most of these games have good cover art. Not necessarily the best, but it gets the job done. And then they show screenshots on the back, and it’s horrible in comparison to the front.

For example, Wipe Out: The Game. The cover is nice, with realistic-ish drawings of people, and nice text. Then, the screen shot looks horrible. The water is mostly one shade, and the people aren’t detailed well. This wouldn’t be so bad if Nintendo just said they were Miis (Which are supposed to be simplistic), but for copyright reasons, they can’t, and the players look like botched up stick figures.

Some games don’t even try to have good covers, like Wheel of Fortune.

Seriously? Again, it looks like they’re trying to copy Miis without copyright infringement. And while the front cover is bad, at least Pat’s and Vanna’s features are recognizable. It looks like two out of the three contestants don’t have noses!

I get that Nintendo has a budget, and there’s a recession going on, but these games were relatively expensive for bad graphics. If they’re going to charge so much, can’t they at least get better graphic artists? Especially if Microsoft and Sony are having games with better graphics?

I’m not going to get a new console because of this, and I don’t want to hear “LOL you’re not a real gamer because you play Nintendo”. I guess I’m just saying that I’m going to stick to Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii.

P.S. Are the bad graphics just game company stuff? Like are Activision and THQ (The developers for the two examples) bad at graphics, or is it with other companies, too? And was The Sims 3 for the Wii any good?

Homework- Done!

I finished my homework for the weekend. :D This includes busywork given to my class by my AP USH teacher, who decided to take charge of the class Monday. I still have to study for a quiz for that class, but I’ll do that later, so I could actually remember the stuff.

I could finally play The Sims 3 when it’s not past 11, which has become impossible thanks to school. I’ve been able to play The Sims 3 on weekends, but by the time I play, I get so tired I just turn it off and go to sleep. And this means I’ve been on the ninth generation for… a while. It doesn’t help that there are too many elders in the current eight slots, so the game has become boring.

And I watched The Fran Drescher Tawk Show. It was good, because she was endearing yet funny, and she still was herself. Plus, she actually has enough of a personality to own a talk show. Other talk show hosts rely on celebrities promoting their latest thing or dysfunctional people fighting with each other, but she didn’t solely rely on her guests. The episode was about nutrition/weight, and while she had Kirstie Alley on via Skype, it wasn’t like Kirstie was promoting a new book or anything. Plus, she had her adorable dog, Esther Drescher, on the show, and she parodied The View’s table discussions with a panel… of five year olds. There were two references to The Nanny- aunt Frieda’s actress came by, and Fran showed some wardrobe from the show and compared it to what she wears now.

Edit: I wanted to find a quote from an interview Fran had about her show, and she said this:

Fran Drescher: Yeah, I don't care about your movie, you're welcome to hock it, but you've got to have a point of view, you've got to be doing something for the greater good. I’m watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade today, and were there always this much musical numbers? It feels like this year there aren’t any floats, and it’s all just songs. I began watching this year’s at 10:30 because I overslept, but did they really have all the floats from 9 to 10:30?

And for the Pokemon float- why couldn’t they just stop at Pikachu? I used to be a Pokemon fan (And that’s where this username came from), but I stopped paying attention last year-ish. The new Pokemon look bad, in my opinion. But that’s nostalgia talking.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to you! I hope you all have a good weekend.

I’m happy Jennifer Grey won DWTS, because now Bristol Palin’s irrelevant. They could all just stay on Sarah Palin’s Alaska and nobody will mind.

And the other day in my game, I noticed this (Censored because of spoilers in the legacy):

To those of you lost on the reference, CC from The Nanny also had Babcock as a last name.

And Fran Drescher’s tawk show begins Friday. Luckily, I have no school, so I could watch it. I’m a bit worried the ratings will be lower because of Black Friday stuff, but whatever. And Charles Shaughnessy allegedly was filming with Fran for the tawk show! Maybe there’s a reunion coming up?

And Renee Taylor guest starred on Shake it Up! as a cranky senior citizen in a retirement center. Sadly, no references to The Nanny.

And in other news, I watched a somewhat famous episode of Roseanne the other night. It was the home ec field trip episode, which made me laugh a lot.

iAm Disappointed

A few days ago, I was excited for the umpteenth iCarly special. This one was going to answer the shipping question. Or so I thought. Most of it sucked.

Somewhere on Tumblr, I saw a ‘5 reasons to watch this special’, and it included these 5 reasons:

I was already worried when I saw Jack Black guest starring, and Spencer singing wasn’t much better. Spencer’s already my least favorite character of the show, so I was annoyed. And Guppy returning wasn’t exactly some I was looking forward to.

And Carly’s crush has already been revealed. She liked that one guy from the beginning of the show who wanted to sing but couldn’t- Jake or something? She also liked Shane in iSaw him first, and she had a semi-crush on Freddie in iSaved your life. And there have been lots of shipping fan war episodes already, so… why did we watch? And on another note, why are all of Carly’s love interests satellite characters?

At first, when this episode was getting promoted a couple weeks back, it was a “Which ship will last?” ish episode, and it looked like it would be serious about the topic, and leave fans and shippers satisfied. However, as Nickelodeon was getting closer and closer to yesterday, it was getting promoted as a “Jack Black special omgomgomg!!!1”

I remember for iSam’s Mom, I got annoyed with how they put Jane Lynch, an actual actress outside of kidcoms, aside for a Freddie subplot. However, for this, they got an actual actor outside of kidcoms (Jack Black), and they put him in a subplot, but that subplot became the main plot. Nickelodeon executives, relax, I don’t think this will be Jack Black’s only iCarly guest star appearance.

The episode had not so subtle references to characters on other Schneider shows, like the two nerds (Craig and Eric) and the mullet guy (Gavin) from Drake and Josh, and the lisp girl (Staci) from Zoey 101. It was funny at first, but then the D&J guys got ovations from the studio audience/sound effects people. Last time I checked, didn’t only legitimate celebrities get applauded (Like ones not on kidcoms)?

Then Carly had a not at all subtle speech about how “iCarly is about the comedy and not the relationships, and how we’re supposed to just laugh at it.” And then average shippers became compared to nerds with no lives, who just religiously ship people for a living. Yeah, they’re totally the same, right?

The problem with that is that the show’s not that funny for the stuff Dan wants us to laugh for. Like the stuff which the ‘studio audience’/sound effect people laugh for is a bunch of bad puns, and all the innuendos with no laugh track are the better jokes in the series. And in show, the webshow’s not really that funny.

And how does Dan expect fans of iCarly not to ship? He’s had a bunch of shippy episodes, like iTwins, iSaved your Life, iKiss, iThink they kiss, iSpeed Date, and iReunite with Missy. With episodes like that, what does he expect us to do? And on fellow Schneider show Victorious, it’s practically all about shipping!

But hey, they didn’t spoil everything this time, so that’s a start.

And Disney aired the Hannah Montana movie at the same time-ish. Ratings duel much?

Total Drama World Tour: The Finale

Yesterday, Total Drama World Tour ended. As much as I like the cartoon, it’s been a little annoying the past few episodes. Specifically, “Rapa-phooey!” and onwards. It’s literally just been Sierra, Alejandro, Heather and Cody. I needed some differences!

Heather won the million… until zombie!Ezekiel stole it all from her and then fell into a volcano. Alejandro got burnt and trampled by everyone, Heather was trying to avoid a flaming boulder, and then… the show ended.

Oh, and there were Star Wars and Lord of the Rings references. Too bad the safety of some characters had to be compromised for these references. Oh, and chances are, no kid in the target audience from this cartoon even knew the references!

I’m glad Heather won, because she was one of the only contestants who was in it to win it, unlike those trying to get out on purpose (DJ), or those who tried to use the show as a matchmaker (Harold, Gwen, Duncan, Courtney… the list goes on). She made a full circle from villain to anti-hero.

And today’s “I have too much time on my hands!” theory is: Heather is two letters away from Hester, as in Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter. At first people hated Hester, but then she won them over with her sewing skills, or something like that. She had to wear a letter A, which stood for Adulteress, but later stood for Able. Heather used to be an Adulteress for kissing Trent, but then she became Able enough to win the competition. So, is Heather Hester? Probably not, but still.

Courtney talked a bit too much, which annoyed me, and Sadie, a near mute character, finally got lines.

There will also be a new season coming up next year, so we’ll have to stay tuned.

Disney Alumni going to College?

No, it’s not Miley Cyrus.

Tonight, on TBS, a new show will premiere called Glory Daze. This is a show set in the past, I’m guessing like How I Met Your Mother, The Wonder Years, or Everybody Hates Chris is. It’s about people going to college, and there’s… two (sorta) Disney ‘graduates’: Kelly Blatz (of Aaron Stone and Sonny with a Chance psuedo-fame) and Drew Seeley (The guy whose sung lots of songs for the Mouse House, but never gets credited).

I’m not planning on watching it, but I found it interesting how Disney more or less threw Kelly to the curb after cancelling Aaron Stone. Knowing the Mouse House, I’d expect him to be tossed from series to series, making random guest appearances. But yeah, looks like he’s going to the real world. I’m also shocked that Drew Seeley finally left Disney after recording lots of music for them. But he’s 28, he kinda has to begin finding non-Disney related jobs.

And another iCarly special concerning Creddie versus Seddie will air Friday, I think. I’m excited, but Jack Black will guest star, and he’s probably going to hog the whole hour. And Disney’s premiering The Hannah Montana Movie that night to. Ratings scheme, much?

And in other news, I haven’t seen a True Jackson VP ~~special~~ ~~new episode~~ ~~rerun~~ ~~commercial~~ anything in the past few months. Yikes. But apparently there are some episodes that have yet to be aired, so the show’s still safe.

And Good Luck Charlie confronted the issue of cheating somewhat seriously in Sunday’s episode. Apparently Teddy’s boyfriend was cheating on her with some other girl, and he told said girl Teddy was his cousin. The episode had a reference to Charlie bit my finger, and it had a cute but sad ending.

Carrie: The Review

I had to read Carrie by Stephen King for school. I enjoyed the book, but sadly, I can’t talk about what I liked about the book for my English class. I have to talk about the writing style and stuff like that. Since that’s no fun, I decided to write about what I thought of the book here.

Margaret White: She was such a creep. And a jerk. Ugh. Everything she did in the book was worth a facepalm. She didn’t even have a justifiable back story. She took “Lifetime movie woman” to a new extreme.

Chris: In my mind, I was yelling profanities at her whenever King was writing about her. Her boyfriend and her dad both knew about her ways, but didn’t really try to stop her? Really? By the end of the book, I just shrugged that she died.

Carrie: I’m not sure if she was supposed to be parodying angsty teenage girls for thinking of herself as ugly, yet at the prom she was pretty, but that’s what she came off as. She was the most sympathetic character in the book. I don’t get why at the end, she didn’t just kill Chris and the other bullies. She didn’t have to kill the entire population of Chamberlain. Especially if she could mind read and stuff. Why didn’t she just do that to know who was laughing at her? That was kind of a crappy move.

And on a semi-random note, I remembered this from the IJBM from TV tropes for Sabrina the Teenage Witch while reading Carrie going psycho on everyone:

"I know The Libby comes from this show and I was certainly tortured by enough girls like her in high-school, but I could never feel any satisfaction whenever Sabrina defeated her with magic. To me, bullying comes from an imbalance of power and since Sabrina is a pretty much an omnipotent goddess, it was her that came off as the bully when she used this advantage against a mortal high-school girl. On The Secret World Of Alex Mack, Alex, too, had magical powers but she refused on principle to use them for petty revenge against her Libby (The decent thing to do.) You know, in general, it just bugs me that on this show (following Bewitched) witches have god-like powers like time travel and without the need for spells or potions or anything like that. Not only is it not like that in folklore, it's really boring dramatically.”

That kinda describes the Carrie VS Chris Conflict. I mean, bullying for years, versus killing someone? But still, Chris was annoying so Carrie using her powers gets justified.

It bugged me how the main moral seemed to be “Don’t bully people, because they might go psycho on the whole school and they might hurt you,” not “Don’t bully people, because they have feelings, too.” Then again, I don’t think Stephen King writes for morals.

And Carrie reminds me of Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. Or the other way around, seeing as the latter was written in like 2007. Basically:

WARNING: This is a kinda long IRL rant. If you don’t like these, then skip it.

…… And I’m not talking about the workload.

The class is filled with suck-ups and arrogant narcissists. The suck-ups aren’t that bad. Seeing as this is everyone’s first AP class, I’m kinda okay with that, and I’m just hoping that people are nervous and don’t know how to act. And besides, I kinda suck-up too, and the teacher’s okay with it, so I guess it’s okay.

However, the narcissism is annoying. In that class of more than 25 people, I could only stand like 7 or 8 people. Everyone thinks too much of themselves. People interrupt the teacher, interrupt others speaking, and the class is generally loud. Most people have the maturity of middle schoolers in that class, and it’s filled with more ‘nerds’ than popular people, so… yeah.

My friend who took that class last year said it was more serious last year, and once she said she was just walking by when we had it, and she noticed “People were all just talking to each other and walking around the room.” And she said “Last year, we were quiet when we entered. Your class made it a joke.”

And my teacher is constantly threatening us, saying “This class will be the first AP USH class to get busy work". Yes, he said it from a “If this continues” kind of way, and not a definite way, but still. Most students actually were determined to get us busy work.

Today, we had to do a mock-continental convention, and luckily, a sane person became the moderator/judge. Students were still talking out of line. The grade president always interrupted EVERYONE, saying his point of view (Btw, he wasn’t the moderator, so he was supposed to just sit there and raise his hand.), and didn’t let the class agree on something he opposed. So, whatever the class agreed on something, he had to agree on it, too. And he wasn’t the judge person.

Let’s face it, in life, even if you don’t agree on stuff, you’re not supposed to complain until you get your way.

Things got worse when someone (Another non-judge person) was debating with the president, and saying what the quiet people were thinking. Neither the president nor this person were picked on to speak. Guess who got in trouble and (albeit, voluntarily) left the class?

Yup, not the president. And nobody called the president out.

The judge person kept on telling everyone to be quiet, but no luck.

I left the class with a headache.

So basically, the teacher has little control over the class, the grade president thinks he has more rights than others, and everyone in that class thinks to highly of themselves.

I don’t Know if I should be Happy or Sad..

I was channel surfing today, and I saw Family Ties on a channel. I thought, “Wait, wasn’t that show, like from the eighties? What’s it doing on television?*"” So I looked at what channel it was on, and it was a channel called “The Hub”. Since my family recently switched Cable providers, I just shrugged, and thought it was a new channel. Later, though, I channel surfed again, and saw The Wonder Years, a show from the nineties, on that same channel. I got slightly suspicious. What channel syndicates two old shows on the elusive side? I decided to Wikipedia it, and turns out…

… The Hub is the new Discovery Kids.

Apparently, Hasbro (The toy company) owned half of Discovery Kids and somehow manipulated FCC’s E/I regulations and crap, and now there’s a channel devoted to some stuff from the eighties and nineties, and some stuff from the old Discovery Kids.

I have mixed reactions. I used to occasionally sometimes (Redundancy intended) that channel, and I kinda liked Trading Spaces: Boys VS Girls and Endurance. But then they just got more gross out shows and I tuned out. And a toy company running a channel seems screwed up. Marketing at its worst?

But then again, if fans of retro shows are happy, and kids could also watch those shows, then I guess it’s a win-win-ish deal. Sadly, I don’t think I have time for more shows to watch. :(

And ugh, this post reminds me of my old posts. Like, my 2009 ones. :\

* I’m not saying it’s unworthy for television. I was just shocked that something from the eighties would be on TV and not on nick@nite or TV Land.

Trick or trEAt: EA Edition

I’ve been avoiding the Fast Lane Patch, because I didn’t find anything in there worth getting. ArmenianTwin95 and I decided to get the new patch for Late Night, though, because we liked those features. But sadly, it wasn’t as easy as just pressing the “Update Now” Button. At first, we got messages that said we didn’t have the “qtcore4.dll" thing. After reinstalling the EADM for the qtcore4.dll, though the problem wasn’t solved. Typical EA. The update came, but the game didn’t work, coming with this message:

So it’s telling me that I need to update my game, even if it says that “Your game is up to date,” I have version 4.5., the “Update Now button’s grayed out, and the bottom left corner has Late Night’s and Fast Lane’s icon things? Major Fail.

Now, we can’t get into the game, at all.

Any help at all?

Why I Like Roseanne

So recently, after having nothing else to watch on a Friday night, I decided to watch Roseanne. Before you head to the comment box and say “WHY?” remember this is the person who finds The Nanny, Mel & Joe, and Disney and Nick Kidcoms tolerable, so… yeah. But yeah, the show soon grew on to me for a couple of reasons:

The theme song’s catchy.
Roseanne doesn’t care about what others think. She doesn’t change herself for other people.
The show makes me laugh. Like actually laugh. The jokes are somewhat sarcastic, but it also relies on other types of humor. “Springtime for David” made me laugh out loud a lot, seeing that it was kind of making fun of Six Flags and Disney World.
The finale was interesting. Yeah sure, it was a complete disappointment to long time fans, but the last part was somewhat insightful. And I got sad just by watching the finale on Youtube without knowing much about the series.
It’s from the nineties. That gives the show like ten more points in my book. :D

I avoided the show like ~~the plague~~ ~~bad CC~~ trolls when it was on nick@nite, partially because I thought it would be bad fat jokes, and because I was 9, and, well, I wouldn’t get how it was funny.

I also like How I Met Your Mother now.

My Problem with Total Drama

As I’ve been watching Total Drama, I’ve noticed one thing in general: How the show seems to revolve around one love polygon, and Owen. I’ve illustrated this below.

Seriously, the characters on the bottom have less air time. On the three seasons of Total Drama, 3 of those contestants have only competed once, six of them have only competed twice, and none of them have won. (Okay, so one of them won in an alternate ending, but yeah).

Owen (AKA ‘farts a lot’) makes it pretty far each season, more so because without him, toilet humor couldn’t be used. He ~~seems to be~~ is the show’s resident comic relief, even though they could still fill that place in.

But yeah, for the most part, Total Drama always focuses on the same handful of characters, leaving a lot flat.

Thanks to trolls, every blog has become less interesting. Seriously, now every blog has to disable comments/delete posts/shut down completely because of trolls. Or they’ve had less interesting posts. I’m not referring to anyone specifically, but I miss the ‘old’ blogosphere. Like a couple months back.

And today, at my school, people dressed up for Halloween. Trolls were walking around unmasked. I’d talk about it, but it’s a long story and I’d rather remain anonymous. Let’s just say ‘popular people who befriend others for the lulz’ were being, well, themselves.

In other news, Snooki seemed to take over my school today, which is weird because people wear “Jersey Shore” sweatshirts on a daily basis.

Reborn or Repasted?

As good as this hair is, why does it look so much like a wig? It looks like the Sim-models are bald and they’re just wearing this as a wig. It looks unnatural. Even for Newsea.

And could someone tell me if their Sims are that pale without CAS? Seriously, why can’t Newsea pick more natural skintones? Or at least anything other than this usual one.

Child Stars

Recently, Miley Cyrus has added another item to her list of controversies- a video in which she’s wearing close to nothing, while writhing on her bed. The Parent’s Television Council is pissed off at her for being a bad role model, especially since Hannah Montana’s still airing on Disney. And by the way, Miley’s dad’s on the PTC, and he supports Miley’s behavior, so… yeah.

I don’t really care that she’s doing this, I mean, girls her age in high school dress the same (but with more affordable clothes), and some of them do worse. And besides, Jamie Lynn Spears, another child star, actually got pregnant, so Miley’s acts still aren’t that bad. And personally, I think that girls in her Hannah Montana target age probably get influenced by the high schoolers they see at the mall just as much as they get influenced by Hannah Montana. And at this point, who really likes Miley, as her or her alter ego?

I’m more annoyed by her impatience than her lack of morals. Couldn’t she just wait to release this album once Hannah Montana ended in March? Couldn’t she just practice singing until then, so she could, oh I don’t know, have some talent?

And while it’s somewhat good to see Miley defending herself over these controversies instead of relying on the Mouse House to defend her, I think that it’s annoying to see her go like “I do it for the art. My true fans will understand,” for like everything.

But yeah, the PTC is acting like she’s so influential, even though two or three years from now she’ll be forgotten about, or the next Lindsay Lohan. Only time will tell.

And speaking of child stars graduating the Mouse House Academy of Stardom, Selena Gomez is working on her last season for Wizards of Waverly Place. She also has a music career, which is going kind of better because she doesn’t have a controversy for each single she releases. Plus, I actually hear her music on the radio.

So once these two leave the Mouse House for good, who’ll take their place as the “Tween Star It Girl(s)”? I doubt Demi Lovato or Bridgette Mendler will be a good replacement, seeing as Demi’s hated for her smile and Camp Rock, and Bridgette hasn’t been that popular. Maybe it will be the new Shake it Up! tweens, who look scarily skinny, and too young. And Debby Ryan probably won’t be one, because she plays a smart character on SLOD, which won’t get her that far. And Brenda Song’s too old.

It looks like Nickelodeon’s trying to replace Miley/Selena with Miranda Cosgrove and/or Victoria Justice. Miranda’s been getting a lot of attention on her singing, and they even included it in an iCarly episode. Plus, TPTB at Nickelodeon are dressing her up more and more each season of iCarly.

Victoria Justice, well her whole Nick career is more or less Nick overpromoting her. She began with a ‘normal’ career on Zoey 101 in 2005 to 2008, and by 2009, she was in a Nickelodeon TV movie, appeared in The Naked Brothers Band (Yes, that really was a name of a show), iCarly, and True Jackson VP. By 2010, her ‘fame’ grew even more, seeing as she got her own ~~cash cow franchise~~ show, Victorious, and guest starred on The Troop, and lent her voice to an episode of The Penguins of Madagascar. She also will have her show crossover with iCarly, and will have another Nick TV movie tonight.

Dan Schneider has to stop trying so hard to make the next “Tween Star It Girl”. His (Or Nick’s) are blatantly obvious. Especially since iCarly will soon become the “Look how pretty/smart/funny/awesome/perfect Carly is! Look at what Spencer’s gonna do next!” if he keeps on going this.

At the end of the day, though, they’re all child stars, who’ll either suffer from their current fame, or shine with their talent. And all that matters to the Mouse House and the Spongebob company is how much merchandise these girls will sell.

Nothing to Blog About

There hasn't been much to really blog about in the past week, which is why I haven't blogged about anything (obviously). I've had too much homework to blog about random stuff, too.

The only interesting thing that happened this week is probably just The View/Bill O'Rielly(sp?) spat. I'm not going to talk about it, though, because I don't really like debating politics on the Internet.

Fran Drescher is getting a talk show, called "The Fran Drescher Tawk Show" or something like that. It's going to start Black Friday, aka the day after Thanksgiving/ materialism at its worst. I'm kind of glad for her. Even if people find her voice annoying, she's a nice person. The talk show will be on for a three week trial run, so good luck to her. It'll be on Fox.

And Jarsie9's been banned from the forums! Looks like her "Bribe the mods" fund finally became empty.

The Golden Question

Sidenote: My thoughts on EA’s latest shenanigans/atrocities are indifferent from most Simmer’s, so I’m not going to bother making a blog post about it, since I’d just restate the same thing. All I could really say is, at least I’m saving my money boycotting them, because I won’t want to buy Late Night or The Sims 3 Console. And is Late Night really coming out in a couple of weeks? Gah, too fast. It feels like Sims 4 will be coming out next year or something. .-. Okay, so this was still a lot, but whatever.

Tomorrow is Columbus Day, and depending on what school you go to (In America), you either have a half day, full day, or no school. There are also plenty of good deals on mattresses, cars, clothes, vacuums, and other stuff. But why? I know it’s a cheap marketing ploy, but what are the stores’ excuses? “We’re remembering Columbus discovering America by giving you a good mattress”? Ugh, it baffles me.

If it’s functioning properly, then DON’T TRY TO FIX IT

So I have a desktop computer which my parents got for the entire family in 2004. The desktop became slow in 2007ish thanks to plenty of computer games, but still functional. Last year, it became irritably slow(As in, 20ish minutes to open the Internet, 1 minute to respond to simple clicks), but I didn’t really use it that much. This year, it became worse. As in, “Mozilla Firefox is not responding, End Now” every hour or so. Again, I don’t really use it that much, and if it wasn’t the only computer that could access the printer, it’d be forgotten about.

My dad got this new desktop last year, and he only uses it for internet searching. He’s highly overprotective of it, and if something goes wrong on it, my brother and/or I will be the first blamed.

Last week, my dad asked me how the desktop was going. I told him “Slow, barely functional”. Guess how he responded? “If you’re going to always be online, you better know how to fix computers. I’m sick of you complaining about it if you can’t fix it.”

I guess this first sentence was true, but definitely not the second part. Usually, I open the computer an hour or so before I need to use it, and I do my other homework while I wait for it to load.

Tuesday, my dad invited my cousin over to fix the computer. And by fix, I mean install the meaningless crappy updates. Yesterday, I had to print something out, and guess what?

The computer’s lag didn’t improve. Every window still had the “End Now” messages, and to add insult to injury, now the printer didn’t even work. (My brother pretty much summed up everything about the printer’s problems here). When I told my dad about it, he just said “It’s your computer, you fix it”.

WARNING: ANGER PART OF POST WILL HAPPEN NOW.

REALLY? THAT’S your ADVICE?!? YOU WERE THE ONE WHO DECIDED TO UPDATE IT, YOU FIX IT.

Seriously, I had no problem waiting for it to load while doing other things.

And now I have to print something out. Lucky me.

And for the most part, we’ve tried uninstalling things that we don’t use, but the computer’s telling us that “It wasn’t installed properly. Reinstall it, then uninstall it.” But we’ve lost the computer game discs, so… yeah.

More Mel & Joe News

So, when did this blog become the Mel & Joe blog? Sometime last week, apparently. :P Matthew Lawrence, of Boy Meets World fame, is going to star on Mel & Joe on November 2 allegedly. He’s Joe Lawrence’s younger brother.

And today’s episode was better than last week’s Dancing with the Stars special. Yeah, sure, the Lennox subplot was kind of controversial(Well, for Robert Pattinson’s standards, not ABC Family’s, anyway), but it kind of made me laugh. And she had the most ‘depth’ in today’s episode. Next week’s episode looks like it’s going to be about her. Specifically, “Mel and Joe team up to invade Lennox’s privacy, and find out she’s dating some leather wearing motorcyclist or a football player.” But still, I’ll probably watch.

Congratulations, Mel & Joe?

Recently, ABC Family has ordered new episodes of Mel & Joe, their latest attempt at a comedy. I guess this is good, because the show could maybe improve with these 10-12 episodes.

ABC Family’s attempts at keeping this show interesting are ~~somewhat~~ completely obvious/blatant. This week’s episode was, “Dancing with the Stars of Toledo” was supposed to air last week, but they (probably) changed it last minute so it could air this week, versus Glee’s episode of “Britney/Brittany”. I guess they thought Dancing with the Stars guest stars could compete (and win) against Britney Spears.

And they’re only eight episodes in, and they’ve already begun romantic angst between the titular characters.

Posting Spree, Posting Spree, Nothing Could Stop me…

I’ve had too much homework during this week, so all the blog post ideas I’ve had have been delayed till today.

Sims 3 loaded in 19 minutes (Sunday) and 18 minutes(Yesterday) this week. I seriously was surprised. No joke.

And Nickelodeon is doing their annual Worldwide Day of Play, which would be good, but well, I’ve talked about this before. This year, once they go back on the air, they have Spongebob on for their daily amount of I dunno, 6 hours?

Dear Nickelodeon,

IF YOU WANT KIDS TO BE ACTIVE, YOU’LL HAVE TO DO MORE THAN GO OFF THE AIR FOR THREE HOURS. ESPECIALLY IF FREAKING SPONGEBOB IS WHAT YOU’LL RETURN WITH! IF YOU’RE TRYING TO GET KIDS TO BE ACTIVE, SHOW A LESS POPULAR CARTOON!

But then they have episodes of True Jackson VP, Victorious, Big Time Rush, and a special of iCarly. Yeah, sure, it’s night, so kids can’t exactly play basketball in their driveway, so I guess it’ okay. The only thing I have against it is that this block is being hosted by Keke Palmer and the others from True Jackson. True Jackson is neglected on Nickelodeon, since it’s not a Schneider produced program. So one of the only promotions for this show is when Nickelodeon is telling kids to not watch their channel? Doesn’t that sound like they’re giving ruining the show on purpose?

Total Drama: World Tour

I’ve only had one post about the Total Drama series on my blog, which doesn’t really show my love for the cartoon. Well, as much as love you could have for a cartoon. Total Drama started out as a reality show parody with stereotypical contestants. The goth girl, the reality show bitch who everybody hates and yet stays on for a long time, the sassy black woman, the gentle giant, the fat guy only available for food/fart jokes, the dumb blonde, and so on…

Now you’re probably thinking, “How shallow of a show! That’s not funny” and stuff, but the show makes it kind of work.

The show had a worse second season, mainly because some of the characters weren’t on, and the show focused on one love triangle thing. And I didn’t have the time to watch most of the season. :x

The cartoon had a third season, which was a… musical. Yes, you’re probably confused on why I like the cartoon. The third season was an improvement from the second, because they had more contestants, and the character conflicts were somewhat better. And here’s what I think of it more:

Gwen. I liked her in TDI, but hated her in TDA because she was the main love triangle person. In TDWT, she doesn’t get any better by kissing another contestant’s boyfriend, and acting like she did nothing wrong. After thinking of the first season for why I liked her, I just found more reasons to hate her. She had an inconsistent on-again-off-again thing with another contestant, and then she voted him off, because she saw him kissing the reality show bitch who avoids eliminations. And at the end of the season, she has a tirade on all but five campers. And she learned to befriend one of the people she ranted a couple episodes before. I guess she’s supposed to be parodying whiny teenage girls too?
Heather, the aforementioned reality show bitch who managed to avoid every elimination. She had no real personality at TDA, but in TDWT, she’s somewhat of a better character. She’s not as evil. She’s probably my favorite this season.
Sierra. She’s a new girl who’s supposed to be a teenager, but she looks 22, and she’s parodying stalker-fangirls, I guess. She has a crush on another contestant who likes Gwen, but that hasn’t caused much drama yet. I like her a bit.
Owen. This season still is Owen-centric, and I think it’s (Pardon the horrible weight pun) because he attracts people with a gravitational pull. He’s still in the competition at the moment, which is probably because without him, the writers wouldn’t have anyone to use fat/fart jokes on. He won TDI, made it to TDA, and is in TDWT, so it’s pretty obvious that the writers like him. In show, he prolly won TDI because he didn’t do anything to seriously piss anyone off, so nobody voted him off.
Alejandro. I have no real opinion of him, but it feels like the producers of the show listened to me when I complained about Justin. Justin was supposed to be the “Hot one” in TDI, and became the antagonist in TDA, but then he just randomly changed back to the “Hot one”. Alejandro seems to be Justin, but as a consistent villain.

If you’re okay with stereotypes, satires, toilet humor, cheesy musicals, and reality shows, then this is okay. Like I said in my TDA post, it beats most stuff on Cartoon Network.
