I haven’t bought Ambitions yet, but I’ve heard that the Sims’ appearances are… worse than average. So what are some people’s suggestions?

When Aren’t You?

I’m pretty sure all Simmers got this message yesterday, but probably not. After all, it is EA, they’ll obviously forget to send this message to some people.

I wonder what’s going to happen. Are they doing some extreme-culling? Will any custom content Sim disappear? Are they going to wipe everyone’s studios? Or are they just fixing the problems many people are experiencing?

Apparently we shouldn’t upload anything either.

This doesn’t really affect me, because I usually just use the Exchange for custom content finding.

Well, seeing as the Exchange is always going through problems, we should be content with EA trying to fix it.

More Adventures in Patching

Last week, you might remember my patching problem. I tried to fix them the past week, and it came with mixed results:

• For the custom content problem, it was only some custom content that wasn’t working. I was still able to download other custom content.
• For the bed thing, I still have to use testingcheatsenabled true to get rid of the tired moodlets. :\

And in other news, finals are coming up, then Summer Break. :D

Adventures in Patching

I decided to get the patch yesterday, so I could get some of its new features. I normally am cautious of their warnings (Disable all custom content and make back ups), but I tried to get it anyway. I could’ve wait to get this patch, but the free store set Goal! wasn’t working, and I thought it would be because of the patch. I followed the instructions, and it didn’t really improve my game.

• Downloading custom content’s getting kind of annoying. Every time I download and install, it says “Success!”, and it even has the installed icon and it appears in the Installed Content, but once I play the game, I can’t find the CC, and I check back in the Launcher, and it’s in the Downloads Tab, but it went back to uninstalled.
• My Sims won’t go in their beds. o_O At first I thought I manually had to send them to their bed, but that didn’t work, either. They just teleported out of their beds. Then I thought it was a CC thing, as a promotion to only use EA official beds, but that didn’t work either. I have to now use the testingcheatsenabled true cheat to get rid of their tired moodlets. All other stuff work fine.

I think the second problem could be fixed with the resetSim cheat, but I haven’t tried it yet.

A Week in Product Placement

Today, in Farmville, I noticed a new seed for the Goji Berry, and that it was locked. I then clicked the “What is this?” button, and it lead me to this:

Apparently, Farmville’s encouraging people to go to a convenience store for more limited edition stuff. Seriously, guys? Something tells me this is gonna get worse.

And I just decided to see what the patch for Sims 3 would do, so I clicked the Game Updates Link, and I thought it was okay, till I noticed this at Really Big Shoes":

I know it’s a matter of will power and ignoring these advertisements, but it’s going to get worse. Sooner, they’re going to get less subliminal, and harder to avoid. Isn’t it enough that they have a Shop Mode, as well as some Brand related packs(Fanta, Dr. Pepper)?

Like my brother said, eventually, there’s going to be a Copyright, Registered, or Trademark symbol in every block of text. He also wondered what the Gurus’ justification towards this was. It’s not like saying “Now your Sim will get to drink Snapple (TM) while driving a Porsche(TM), and listening to his iPod(TM),” will enhance the game.

Hopefully we’re just over-reacting, though.

And I really need to learn how to put the real Copyright, Registered, and Trademark symbols.

Ambitions is Out!

Today Ambitions is out in both North America and Europe. I was gonna make a blog post yesterday but I was tired. :x

Apparently there’s going to be a patch, but I’m not going to get it. We have no idea if the patch works, and seeing EA’s past experience with patches, it’s better not to get it so quickly (Better to be safe than sorry, right?). With the forums down, too, it’s going to be harder to find out if the patch works or makes things worse. Heck, the forum might not even be in need of maintenance, but in need of cleaning it from “Don’t get the patch/Ambitions is buggy” threads.

And as for Ambitions, I’m probably getting it in July.
